I'm not getting on with my family

It can be very difficult to live with people who don’t understand you, or who are always on your back or who nag you all the time. BUT it can be much more difficult to move out on your own at an early age.

If you are struggling to get on with the person or people you live with, try talking about it with someone else first. A trusted youth worker or teacher might be a good place to start, or you could call Childline or the NSPCC in confidence. Mediators are people trained to help you to resolve arguments – not by telling you who is right or wrong, but by helping you come up with ways to compromise, negotiate and get your point across. If you still feel that you need to leave, find out all the options available to you first and try to come up with a plan to move on – preferably with the support of your parents.
