What if the Council decide it's my fault I'm homeless?

When you go to see the Housing Officer, they have to investigate whether you are homeless because of your own actions.

If the Council think that you are homeless because of your own unreasonable actions - like if you have been evicted for anti-social behaviour - they may say you are intentionally homeless.

If you are intentionally homeless, even if you are in priority need, the Council does not have a duty to house you. They will give you advice and assistance to find your own accommodation though, so it is still a good idea to speak to a housing officer about your options. They will try to visit you once you have been rehoused to make sure you get support from all the relevant services that can help you maintain a tenancy.

The Council will not consider you intentionally homeless if you have had to leave your home because you are in danger of violence or other abuse.
