Young people's magazine ideas day

On Your Feet! is BYH's annual magazine, it is designed and written with young people who have experienced homelessness to provide information and advice in an accessible way. It is distributed to young people in schools as part of our Home Street Home sessions, and last year copies were given to young people in Broxtowe, Amber Valley, Erewash, Rushcliffe and Gedling. The directories of local sources of support are adapted for each area.

The magazine ideas day we held in Beeston back in April and was a huge success! 16 young people, representing 4 different hostels from across teh area attended, and contributed some fantastic ideas for the fourth edition of the magazine. On the day we talked about what makes a good magazine, which issues should be covered in this edition and how to present the articles. We also workshopped some article ideas.

The 4th edition is available now and it is distributed to Year 11 students when they take part in our 'Home Street Home' awareness raising activity. There will also be copies of the Broxtowe edition of the magazine available in health centres, libraries and other community facilities in the borough.
