For the transition to independence to be a success young people and their parents/carers need to know their options, rights and responsibilities before any bags are packed.

Parental eviction is the most common reason behind young people becoming homeless. In a tough financial climate, with families under more pressure than ever, it's so important to be armed with as much information as possible when helping a young person prepare to move on to independence.

So whether your teenager is talking about setting up home on their own for the first time,  or it is you who's thinking it's time they moved on, these pages are designed to give you some basic information and put you in touch with local services that might be of some help.
